"Today, I ran in memory of Jordan Turner, one of my former students. He passed away in Dec. 2010, and he still inspires many today. He was a bright young man, and he always came to class with a big genuine smile. He sat on the front row and was diligent about staying current on hot topics for discussions in class. He always came in with a copy of the New York Times. Jordan was an avid runner, and today his legacy motivated me to finish strongly. I am lucky to have crossed paths with Jordan. His family and friends are inspirational, and they have set up a foundation in honor of his name.~ Justin Phalichanh, MTSU Global Studies Professor Visit Dr. Phalichanh's blog at mtsugsjp.wordpress.com.
Team Jordan (left) gathered for a 2nd straight year to participate in Nashville's Country Music Marathon on Saturday, April 28, 2012, in honor of our dear friend and brother, Jordan Jair Rashan Turner. All Team Jordan team members who registered completed the half marathon (13.1 mi) with a great sense of accomplishment, but even more importantly, knowing they'd honored Jordan by carrying on a tradition and past time he so enjoyed. In 2010, Jordan astounded friends, family and co-participants by completing that year's full marathon, a distance of just over 26 miles, in only 3 hrs 31 min, never having trained professionally. It is that sense of drive and achievement Jordan exuded in everything he did, that continues to motivate his family and friends. For anyone interested in joining Team Jordan for next year's Nashville Country Music Marathon on Saturday April 26, 2014, contact Craig Turner.

On April 30, 2011, Team Jordan consisted of Jordan's mother Carmen and his aunt Gale, both of whom finished the half marathon. Several supporters were on hand, including his father, grandmother and other family members.
Team Jordan 2010
On April 24, 2010, Team Jordan consisted of one participant - Jordan Turner himself. He completed the marathon (26.1 miles) in under three and a half hours though his official time was three hours and thirty one minutes. Keep in mind that Jordan, along with his brother Julian, parked at the Church Street Post Office that morning due to heavy traffic leading to LP Field. Because it was almost time for the race to start, he ran from Church Street through Centennial Park to the starting line on West End, just in time for the official start. So, he had actually run 28.1 miles non-stop by the time he crossed the finish line.
